16-Year-Old Ogun Student, Oloruntola Mutiu Oluwaseyi Scores Nine A1s In WASSCE

ABEOKUTA – A 16-year-old student at Taidob College, Asero, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, Oloruntola Mutiu Oluwaseyi, has recorded an outstanding result of Nine A1s in his 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination, (WASSCE).

Mutiu with examination number 4281613070, according to a copy of the result obtained by Sunday Independent, scored A1 in all his subjects during the exam.

The Director of the school, Obawunmi Jiboku, confirmed the result when our correspondent put a call through to his mobile number.

The students, an indigene of Abeokuta North Local Government and a science student of the College had A1 in Data Processing, Civic Education, English Language, Further Mathematics, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Technical Drawing.

According to the Director of the School, Mutiu’s outstanding performance was ‘a reflection of moral and academic excellence the College is known for in its 30 years of existence.’

Jiboku further said that though Mutiu’s performance stands out, the college has always been recording outstanding WASSCE results year-in-year-out.

WAEC released the results of the 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE, a few days ago.

Announcing the result in Lagos, WAEC’s Head of Nigeria’s office, Patrick Areghan said, out of a total of 1, 613, 733 candidates that sat for the examination, 1, 467, 565 candidates representing 91.5% have their results fully processed and released.

The examination body said out of a total of 1, 613, 733 candidates, 262,803 results are being withheld “due to reports of cases of examination malpractice.”

Areghan announced an improvement in pass rate by candidates as a total of 1,361,608 candidates, representing 84.38 percent, obtained credit and above in a minimum of five subjects with or without English Language or Mathematics.

Also, 1,287,920 candidates, representing 79.81 percent of the total candidates, obtained credits and above in a minimum of five subjects including English Language and Mathematics.
