Abstract:
Community policing is an evolving law enforcement strategy that emphasizes proactive engagement between the police and the community to collaboratively address safety concerns. This research focuses on the implementation and impact of community policing in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, with a specific emphasis on crime prevention. The study seeks to assess the effectiveness of community policing initiatives in fostering safer neighborhoods and reducing crime rates.
The research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Qualitative data is gathered through in-depth interviews with key stakeholders, including community leaders, police officers, and residents. Additionally, focus group discussions will be conducted to explore community perceptions and experiences with community policing. Quantitative data is obtained through the analysis of crime statistics, comparing trends before and after the introduction of community policing measures.
