A REVIEW OF MANAGING SCHOOL FINANCE FOR BETTER LEARNING OUTCOMES IN PRIVATE SCHOOLS IN ANAMBRA STATE
Abstract
Effective financial management is critical to achieving better learning outcomes in private schools. In Anambra State, private schools play a significant role in providing quality education, yet many face challenges in managing their finances to support academic excellence. This study explores the relationship between school financial management practices and learning outcomes in private schools across Anambra State. The research examines key aspects of financial management, including budgeting, resource allocation, and financial accountability, and how they influence the provision of essential teaching and learning resources.
Using a mixed-methods approach, data was collected from school administrators, teachers, and financial officers in selected private schools through surveys and interviews. The study reveals that schools with well-structured financial management systems tend to have better learning environments, enhanced teacher performance, and improved student outcomes. Conversely, poor financial planning and mismanagement lead to inadequate educational resources, affecting the quality of education.
The findings suggest that effective financial management is a critical enabler of improved learning outcomes. The study recommends that private school administrators in Anambra State adopt more transparent and efficient financial management practices to optimize resource use, ensure accountability, and enhance overall academic performance. These insights are essential for policymakers, educators, and private school owners aiming to achieve sustainable improvements in education quality.
