Abstract
This study investigates the influence of teachers’ professional ethics on students’ academic performance in secondary schools within Etche Local Government Area. Recognizing the pivotal role that ethical conduct plays in educational settings, the research explores the current state of professional ethics among secondary school teachers and assesses how these ethical practices impact student outcomes.
Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, the study collects data through surveys, interviews, and academic performance records from a sample of teachers, students, and school administrators. The findings reveal a significant correlation between teachers’ adherence to professional ethics and the academic performance of students. Ethical practices such as fairness, integrity, and respect were identified as key factors contributing to positive student outcomes, while lapses in ethical behavior were linked to lower academic performance and diminished student engagement.
